How IT WORKS.

Cold Therapy

Store Medi-Pak in freezer or refrigerator. Wrap your cold Medi-Pak in a cloth provided or a light towel and apply to the injured area, moulding the pack to ensure maximum skin contact.

RICE (Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation)
Ice pack therapy is an important step in RICE protocol following acute injuries. Ice aids the body in the following way; ice causes the blood vessels to constrict which results in reduced inflammation and swelling, reduces the amount of muscle spasm which eases pain ice numbs by decreasing the rate at which nerves conduct which results in a sensory loss (numbness) pain relief.

For Sport and Other Injuries

  • R – Rest, stop activity and rest
  • I – Ice, apply Medi-Pak for up to 20 minutes
  • C – Compression, light compression may help to relieve pain
  • E – Elevation, is most effective when the injured area is supported above the heart.

Cold Therapy can be applied and removed in 20-minute rotations for up to 48-72 hrs if merited.

Cryotherapy

Ice therapy or cryotherapy is the use of ice in the treatment of acute and chronic injuries.

Ice therapy can be used successfully to reduce swelling and pain in the following conditions:

  • Muscle spasms
  • Acute injuries and swelling including muscle strains and ligament sprains
  • Trigger point pain
  • Contusion (corked thigh)
  • Tendinopathies
  • Headache / migraine
  • Toothache

The recommended application in the acute phase is to apply ice to the injured part for 10-20 minutes every two hours for the first 24 hours, reducing the application after the first day depending on how well the injury is healing.

Medi-Ice Pak range, comes with different applications. Always use a cover or cloth so direct contact with the skin is avoided when applying ice pak therapy products.

Medi Pak Heat Therapy

Heat Therapy is effective pain relief to help ease Chronic pain relief, application of moderate heat can stimulate blood flow to the treated site, helping muscles relax and improving the mobility of the stiff joint which can alleviate both pain and stiffness. It provides temporary pain relief by stimulating the sensory receptors to block the transmission of pain signals to the brain.
